CBS News editor in chief Bari Weiss has been pushing reporters to use incendiary language and go on goose chases in attempt to attack Abdul El-Sayed and James Talarico.
News, or in See, BS’s case, not even remotely news at this point.
Yep. We discovered a whole bunch of them right after W’s fantastic flameout after the Eight Year Debacle.
Weird how that works. I’m bracing for a whole lot more this time around. A bunch of “independents” that probably throw in with whatever bullshit the cons cook up for them as a lifeboat.
Do you think “independent” voter is synonymous with “swing” or “undecided” voters? Because they are most certainly not always. I’m registered independent but I have very principled leftist stances, but I also vote for harm reduction. I just prefer not to label myself with a political party. That doesn’t mean I vote for grifters like Jill Stein either, or that I have ever, or will ever vote for some pig-ass Republican fascist. The primary is the only chance I get to be excited about a candidate.
We are in bad shape if we think we have to pick a team to be considered an important voice. I can root for a team every single time, that doesn’t mean I have to buy the jersey. If you think for me to root for your team I have to be wearing the same colors as you, you’re not a fan. You only care about being in a group. This is how we get a team that doesn’t care about winning anymore. I don’t just mean winning elections, I mean pushing forth an agenda that helps people, and makes the country better. Make people see we deserve to win.
And I hope that you have open primaries where you’re at then, otherwise I would consider you as a independent, which clearly you’re not and neither are most “independents” when you’re acting in a obviously partisan fashion as part of the problem. And if you are in a open primary state and voting in the primary, then hey, cool, keep on keeping on with the Independent label then but let’s not pretend that you’re not acting in a partisan fashion.
When you live in a state where there’s no open primary then identifying as a independent then registering to a party and participating in the primary is not treating politics as a sport or buying the jersey as you say. Registering and voting in the primary to get better candidates that deserve to win is that attempt at harm reduction and a much better form of harm reduction than just being a “independent” and hoping that you get a better candidate.
Yep. Very often an “independent” is just a reactionary centrist, or in other words, someone who punches left while talking about “both sides”, spouts conservative talking points, and votes Republicans.
I’m an independent voter. I just happen to basically always pick Democrats because I’m an informed voter and conservatives have been bat shit for a long ass time now, since well before I could vote.
Don’t even get me started on the whole “independent” voter bullshit.

Last time the lifeboats were the Teabagger Party.
Burn the lifeboats.

My two cents on the whole Independent sitaution.
Here in Washington state, “Independent” has always been code for “Republican but that’s not as popular in this state so covering it with Independent”
Their policies are somehow almost always lockstep with the Republican party.

Wheras the centrist dems are not?

I mean yeah, it’s just the whole independents aren’t really independents thing.
