Having a valid criticism is not shitting on anything.
Sorry, I grew up in Eastern Europe in rather harsh environment and my way of talking tends to sound aggressive or slang-ish. I’m aware of this, yet fail to not do it.
It is too bad you no longer are provocative about religion
I initially had no plans to argument back as I’ve always seen these conversations pointless and mine-fielded, but okay;
For instance, Catholics rightfully get a lot of hate for child abuse.
What is the story of Aisha? Why is marrying a child core part of religious teachings in Islam? Why are Muslim countries on average having lower age of consent (ie. Iran - 13)? Look up child abuse in Islamic/Quranic schools. The interesting thing is, unlike western world with million cameras, microphones, bloggers and free media, those places are not like that, so whatever you hear here is probably going down in ME too, except hush hush - https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0145213424006288
In the case of Evangelicals, they just make shit up about gays, transgender, rapture, etc
So what does Islam say about LGBT and sinners?
They lean heavily on government to promote their bigoted views thus violating basic tenants of church and government separation
“Islamic State” and “Islamic revolution”.
For every “white knight” as you put it there are a hundred bigoted black knights
Not denying, but this feels like a logical fallacy argument - reflecting/whataboutism, which plays nicely with my initial argument.
All my arguments are essentially pointing out that same things you use as arguments against other religions pretty much always work against Islam.
Ahh Yes, I can see the anti-Muslim sentiment in you which makes sense.
Abrahamic religions are some of the most destructive on our planet. Because you have not spent much time discussing these things you are engaging in a tit for tat.
I missed you initial argument, can you restate your premise?
Islam as in the Quran does not say anything about LGBT. Just like the Evangelicals, the Muslin faith has many sects that like to fill in the blanks. This is where LGBT persecution comes from in both religions.
Your final statement is very suspect. This is not a game to see which religion was worse because I can assure you Christians are equal in death and destruction to Muslims in history and in modern times they hold no equal.
This is not a game to see which religion was worse because I can assure you Christians are equal in death and destruction to Muslims in history and in modern times they hold no equal.
You’re starting to understand. So close, yet you still said my arguments are anti-muslim sentiment, not anti-religion, which ironically proves my initial argument, which you still don’t fully understand. That’s fine/understandable/expected. Yet it’s interesting that if I say those things about other religions, it’s justified and normal, but me adding “Islam” to the mix suddenly becomes anti-muslim sentiment and raised your eyebrow.
About LGBT stuff - you’re thinking of unofficial statements and interpretations, not what the teachings or religious leaders say.
You had obviously been waiting to unload your anti-muslim sentiment. I understand that. I also see that you were basically complaining you can’t talk shit about Muslims, lamenting your inability to talk shit because the community would shut you down.
Where is your Christian criticism if you are actually anti-religious and not just anti-muslim?
You can guess where I am going with this which is what your original comment provoked.
You had obviously been waiting to unload your anti-muslim sentiment
You could not be more wrong. I live in a region that sees no Muslims. I literally do not care. They affect zero things in my life. Again, for the third time - I’m anti-religion, not anti-muslim, but you default to defending one specific group out of all. What’s your agenda?
I also see that you were basically complaining you can’t talk shit about Muslims, lamenting your inability to talk shit because the community would shut you down.
I literally said I outgrew that. I also said I had no plans to write any of this until you promted me to, directly
Where is your Christian criticism if you are actually anti-religious and not just anti-muslim?
For the third time, literally everything I said applies to every religion. My point had always been that I’m not talking about one specific one - arguments work against all of them. This was my initial argument. Anti-religion, not anti-muslim, but somehow one always seems way spicier to talk about, even tho it’s just another religion.
Let me give you a spicy example - imagine I hate every human, just straight up human hater - white, yellow, brow-HOLY SHIT THATS RACIST, YOU MENTIONED BROWN PEOPLE - but it was never about brown people.
Besides, I’m 100% sure you could find comments on my profile shitting on Christians and Catholics, likely more than Islam, but likely only few since like I said - not my thing anymore. Let me be blunt with my words - Islam is not better than any other religion, it’s just like every other. People defending it like it is better, are the type of people I’m talking about.
My agenda is pointing out that you want to talk shit about Muslims but feel you can’t on Lemmy and the real motivation behind that. The fact that you are so aggressive in your denial tells me all that I need to know.
I did review your comments since you invited me to and I didn’t see any general anti-religious talk. I also saw several red flags that lead me to believe you are anti-immigrant which plugs nicely into the anti-Muslim sentiment.
I am guessing you have some latent racists beliefs that you have never confronted. Being in denial about this is not a good look, but entirely understandable.

Like talking to a wall
The fact that you are so aggressive in your denial tells me all that I need to know.
I explained my appearance of aggressiveness in my second comment. Please read again. I’m not aggressive, I appear aggressive. I’m not sure about what denial are you talking about.

Like I said.
I also saw several red flags that lead me to believe you are anti-immigrant which plugs nicely into the anti-Muslim sentiment.
Russians are not Muslims and weaponized immigrant’s religion is irrelevant. Completely different situations. Please look up what is happening/happened on Poland and Baltic borders with Belarus.
I am guessing you have some latent racists beliefs that you have never confronted
I honestly don’t understand your brain gymnastics. How do you even come to this conclusion after everything? Please, show me one comment that would portray me as racist (except comments against white supremacists, I think we can both agree those can eat shit).
EDIT: I’m fairly sure at some point I wrote my real life experience here how I grew up in a racist country but completely changed my mind after learning English and opening my eyes to wider world view, but that was early Lemmy days, so I really don’t feel like looking it up. I could say that majority of my favourite artists are non-white, but I feel like that’s a stupid argument
I am sorry, I am not trying to attack you. Just pointing out how other people see things. You think that everyone is preventing you from saying valid criticism when in reality you just come off as someone with latent racism.
The fact that you grew up in a racist environment only reinforces my opinion of you. I am glad to hear you have taken some steps away from the toxic culture you grew up in.
Just pointing out how other people see things. You think that everyone is preventing you from saying valid criticism when in reality you just come off as someone with latent racism.
But why? I’m still dumbfounded. Your answer perfectly plays into my initial argument that I can shit on every religion, but if I say those literally same words against Muslims, then I’m not anti-religion, suddenly I’m racist. You never argued against that point, I felt like you constantly tried to gaslight me.

I don’t have a dog in this fight so to speak.
