    unlike the pharma companies.

Apparently pharma companies don’t like their drugs being used for executions. This has lead to a number of states having to try to buy black market supplies to comply with existing written state laws for drugs used and other states change their drug cocktail to alternatives with a number of disastrous effects.

Also, medical personnel generally legally can’t participate so guess who’s not putting the needle in. Not the qualified nurse or doctor cause they’ll lose their license if they do it

As explained in an episode on John Oliver’s show, for any who are interested in learning more.

I wonder why they don’t use carbon monoxide to kill people. It’s supposedly painless.

Nitrogen too, if done right. The one time it was used it was done wrong (using a mask instead of a chamber.

But like the other commenter pointed out, the cruelty is the point.

Yeah, a chamber so CO2 levels don’t rise, and a sedative/relaxant so you don’t resist natural breathing. The second isn’t necessary for assisted suicide, because they want the procedure to be successful.

For those confused about this statement with respect to other things I’ve said, I’m against the death penalty, but I’m also against doing things poorly. It’s sometimes hard to decide whether the people in charge are cruel or incompetent. Sure, why not both, but going all Green Mile in your executions doesn’t increase support from the people on the fence.
