    Nah, 9 months is insane…

When I was in one hit 6 months, with none of these supply issues, and it hit morale fleetwide.

This isn’t even really “armed conflict” and there’s no logical reason not to rotate the ships out except they don’t want to. We do that in actual wars and peace time. The Lincoln and all it’s support are going to be there indefinitely.

Anyone that gets sent anywhere, will be there indefinitely.

A shit ton of norms are being violated, and even Republican voters not voting is an advantage, they don’t have to flip.

I’m a sailor, but not military. I have done 9 months at sea before, it’s tough but doable.

However 9 months without knowing when you’re going home is diabolical. We had people going insane during covid when no one knew when the ports would allow us to come in again.

Oh ok, so you have no idea what its like, but still wanted to share you’re unrelated ancedotal experience.

Just like when someone asks an astronaut a question, I chime in because I once rode in a hot air ballon

Oh. I apologize then. The experience of being on a boat for an extended period of time seemed somewhat related.

I hope my unwanted contribution did not ruin your day.

Thank you for chiming in with your experiences! That adds a lot of much needed context.

Man that’s just, so grim. I can imagine even the prospect of getting activated is taking a mental toll at this point. :(
