Crazy how we’ve gone from “Get the hell out of the house and don’t come back till the street lights come on” to “OH MY GOD, CHILDREN ARE IN PUBLIC. CALL THE POLICE! CALL THE NATIONAL GUARD! CALL ANYBODY!!!111!”

I daresay it’s because of the kids in that first scenario growing up and remembering what they witnessed while they were out on their own. Not all of them, of course.

I wont deny that there may be people out there who are a definite fit for your scenario…

But generally speaking, I think its more encouraged addiction to technology. I see it so often, in my own family and elsewhere, where whenever children start needing attention… the response isnt to give them attention, its to shove a phone/tablet in their hands and shooing them off to a corner to sit down and occupy themselves.

while back in the day, parents did give their kids attention. Still encouraged them to go outside and shit, but kids did get attention. They did raise their kids.

      Today its Cellphones/Tablets raising kids.
