It’s depressing how empty this sub is…
So for the tens of us here…let’s see them. ;-) I’ll show mine first. :)
I’m just here to see cool pony cars but if I had money i’d get a retro EV build like the Estang

Damn, that’s like a Sleeper PC but with cats
Who hurt you? ;-)
Just kidding. I’m not a fan of EV’s because I love the sound…every time I hit the gas the roar of the coyote makes me feel young again…
But that’s interesting. :) I wonder if it has a loudspeaker to play engine noises through.
True, but then there’s Torque For Days. 0-60 at crazy single-digit times. Plus no fluid flushes, hose breaks, gasket changes, none of that.
Plus you could rock the casbah on the stereo I guess :D
I’m not a big racer, which is funny given the car. ;-) (I got pulled over for it a couple of years ago and it cost me a couple thousand in lawyer’s fees to get it dismissed) so really am not into it…
i get the rush of acceleration… But I think without the sound it’s just…empty. And 0-60 never excited me… It’s 60-120 that I’m interested in… and most EV’s hit a plateau at that point. ;-)
I also like modding the car…the idea that I can go do shit to the car that makes it better than it came from the factory appeals to me…As far as I know the only mods for most electrics are cosmetic, because if you fuck with anything else it tattles on you to the mothership. :)
Regardless of me not being a “racer” per se, I have teh Rousch intake and exhaust and an upgraded throttle-body to give me quicker throttle response…
Oh I appreciate the burble of an idling ‘stang, absolutely. I just like the idea of someday filling up my car via the sun and not paying anyone anything for it. In a sense.
The thing about this one, or back-modded EVs, is exactly no leaky telemetry and other assorted horse hockey games with the car company. You get the car, you drive off - assuming it’s working properly, maybe you give it an update once in awhile but thats it. Like open source (although i don’t literally know of any open source EV cars yet).
Not sure what it would top out at - maybe I’ll look that up. Maybe put a Hooker headers sticker on it for funsies. 😄
It’s not the “top out” part…I think the Model -Y has a top speed of like 145?
but while electrics have great low-end torque… top-end torque leaves a lot to be desire… it’s why when you watch races, EV’s do amazing in the quarter, sometimes in the 1/2, but beyond that, they never win. They hit a plateau at a certain point.
At 3500RPM my mustang is just at the beginning of it’s torque curve, and has a TON of throttle left. ;-)
I’d probably look at an EV if I was still commuting… but I work remotely 100% of the time, so when I drive, it’s only for fun. :)
What do you mean “top-end torque leaves a lot to be desire”? An electric motor’s torque is always the same and that’s why they are so rad.
Tesla model ybpulls what 350-380 ft-lbs?
My modded mustang peaks at 480 when it’s in its power band. Yes it’s slower to get there, but it keeps going. And that’s naturally aspirated with stock cams. The coyote can push up to 800 or 900 ft lbs when properly supercharged.
There really isn’t any modding of an EV, it’s why ‘car guys’ don’t tend to like them. For me, fun is getting the engine to perform above its original design specs. (Though to be fair, the coyote, when properly modded, is capable of upwards of 1300HP and 1000 ft-lbs of torque.
I’m not going there, at 480/460 that car scares me… And as I’ve said before, I’m not a racer as much as I’m a driver. I like doing the work.
