If you hit a human sized object without seeing it, turn around and still don’t see it and only see the damage at homw which makes you call the cops? That’s pretty insane.

She didn’t call the cops. The article said she drove back to the scene to look again and by that point, the police where there.
I assume it was at that time the old lady said she done it.
