I think the supposed logic is that if you average everyone’s predictions together you’ll be pretty close to accurate. It’s like blanket rules against felons. A felony ranges pretty significantly from trying to pass a bad check all the way to murder. Being a “registered sex offender” could just mean that the person tried to patron a sex worker, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they committed a violent or egregious offense.
