I tend to consider first attempts/versions as Betas. Sometimes I will do the full alpha, beta, RC cycle
Freedman has a pretty good video relating to this

Yeah, they can shoot themselves in the foot, and alternatives exist/will appear, but if you have whatever millions of users, and you lose 25%, Reddit will still be a 500 lb gorilla.
Also, we have to remember that the vast majority of users are like your typical FB users; mindless and couldn’t care less about these changes.

Airtel did that to me when I got the first Smartphone. They argued that the forever was for 3G, not 4G, although there was no mention of such a thing in the contract. They lost 4 mobile lines, a landline, and ADSL forever.

However, they are also specialized machines that are often only bought by institutions and large companies, so thieves would likely have a hard time selling them on the black market.
I’m sure Russian, North Korean and buyers from some other countries would care about that.

Really? Where could I find information about that? If the rockets (first stage) weren’t reused, there is no way that SpaceX could charge the Kg to orbit prices they charge.
Several accounts of how he originally defined his scale exist, but the original paper suggests the lower defining point, 0 °F, was established as the freezing temperature of a solution of brine made from a mixture of water, ice, and ammonium chloride (a salt).[2][3] The other limit established was his best estimate of the average human body temperature, originally set at 90 °F, then 96 °F (about 2.6 °F less than the modern value due to a later redefinition of the scale).[2]
Yeah, the freezing point of a random solution, and the perceived temperature of the human body makes as much sense as the freezing and boiling point of water for reference. Kelvin is objectively better, but centigrade is immediately understandable as it uses easily understandable reference points.

Here is the thing, I don’t think they are driving towards a cliff. In olden times, reddit was one of several options for doomscrolling, with Slashdot, Digg, et Al. When Digg shot themselves in the foot, Reddit was ready to take up the slack, so eternal September happened, and Digg essentially withered away.
At that time the combined user base of these sites was probably an order of magnitude less of present day reddit.
I believe that reddit has achieved critical mass, and they can pretty much do any shit they want. They may lose users, but they’ll be a drop in the bucket.
The inertia is too large.
Fake degrees are imaginary numbers.
Not having A/C, mainly.
Sort of a low intensity megosniac, but nothing like it.
Organic is kind of a scam. At least not what people imagine. What you want is floor raised, or even better, free range. And grain fed. In every country the definitions are slightly different. Look into it. What you want is hens that are out in the open, so that they follow natural day cycles, that can move around a bit, and fed grain instead of feed, which is often made from fish flour and such.
I don’t want to be behind you when you brake.
Yep. Eggs and seatbelts, Totally as important.
German efficiency. That way you can check that all the eggs are full, so you don’t get an empty one.
Wow. Where I shop, egg cracking is only one of the jobs of the guy, he also spills sugar, dents cans, removes one soda can tab per pack, bruises tomatoes, pretty much all these jobs.

I’ve tried bazzite (Aurora, actually, same family more general use), and found the thing a bit constraining. The whole flatpak or distrobox thing is a bit cumbersome for me, but I can see the appeal.

Yes. Capitalism is not bad, it’s actually a sane approach. The problem is when left unchecked, which is the state’s duty, but fucked up by politicians, in the pockets of oligarchs. Have you read Adam Smith? Both Smith’s and Marxs’ thesis fail beacuse they depend and assume inherent good in people, while in reality greed is the driving force in economics, and fuck all else.
Digg, reddit, Slashdot and others were and are doomscrolling in nature.
Also, while the main input was upvotes, your home was a combination of weights between front page and your subscriptions. Maybe crude by today’s standards, but algorithms.
