I worked in a American factory. When trump started the tariff bullshit they laid off 1/3rd of us and sold the company to a foreign investor who was buying every factory in the industry that they could.

Trump started as a meme on Reddit back in the day. r/thedonald was a joke/shitpost subreddit when he first announced he was running. And they would post comments like that to be funny because he was so obviously a joke candidate. Like, that was the guy from the apprentice and he was an idiot on the show . He bankrupted a casino!

Until it stopped being a joke. More and more posts popped up saying things like “I can’t tell if we’re still joking or if y’all are for real”. And then they fully flipped into actually supporting him, and the right wing posting got both crazier and weirder. Now they’re just full boot licking fascist psychos. Or bots. Probably both.

It’s a combination of a few things, like Jeffrey Epstein convincing moot to create /pol/ on 4chan which led to 4chan switching from a mostly leftist platform to a mostly fascist platform over time, Gamer Gate and the online right taking advantage of that whole fiasco to convince people that the anti-establishment position was anti-feminist and right wing even though it didn’t start off that way, and the DNC rigging the 2016 presidential primary against Bernie Sanders as was shown in the Podesta email leaks which Hillary distracted from by just talking about the source of the leaks instead of the contents.
