Over the years poly(lactic acid) (PLA) – also known as polylactide – has become a popular thermoplastic for a variety of reasons. One of these reasons is that it’s easily produced…
Yup. I don’t have a tube (really should make one), filament sits on top of my enclosure and just goes straight into my extruder, and the following morning after printing old PLA there will be PLA confetti all over my print bed and a tiny bit sticking out of the hot end.
Ha. My second printer is a DD ender 3 pro, I made a little clasp that holds cotton wool and clips around the filament so it cleans it as it goes into the head. It’s surprising how much dirt ends up in the wool. Anyway if it snaps overnight the clasp yeets off in a random direction and is waiting for me on the print bed in the morning. As my octoprint doesn’t have great night vision it being missing is the only way I can tell the filament has snapped. 🙂
