Your last paragraph crossed my mind recently as the oil prices really start to spiral out of control. There were so many protests bordering on riots because people were stuck at home due to covid - now we’re already hearing news that truckers are starting to sit idle instead of driving at a loss.
Imagine how much free time and how much anger everyone will have when the economy grinds to a halt from product shortages all over the country.
Right but sometimes conditions have to be right for it is my point. And the riots/orotests (depending) were more intense and publicized than prior. Not sure the results would’ve been the same in January. People like to think better of themselves, but background human behavior variables guide things too. Outside in January? Probably not unless your MN, WI, or MI. (There a culture of pride in weathering cold weather in the upper Midwest that doesn’t reallly sway them.) April though? Yes please, for most.
Getting to this point, doing it on scheduled work days, is step one. The energy has to be there before anything else can ignite.
Agreed, I think it was a perfect storm of a truly egregious murder and a population who had a uniquely unusual amount of free time to do something about it
I’ve heard plenty of times in the past that truckers will strike over this or that, and I’d like to actually see it happen. It would stop everything in three days or so.
Usually what happens is we get a couple of videos of truckers going slow and blocking the highway, but not much else.

I’d love to think people would’ve protested racism and gross police incompetencies ending in death regardless, but it’s highly unlikely.
Even the storming of the Bastille had to wait for nice weather.
Locking away the poors’ access to distraction could very well be that “nice weather”.
Both of those things were protested when George Floyd was murdered. But only so much can be accomplished through protesting.

I didn’t hear about a strike, I just heard there were a few parking their trucks as it didn’t make sense to work just to pay for fuel
