  • We see where you’re coming from, and also it is unhealthy to be extremely sensitive to every single hint of bigotry, from malicious or innocent sources, from your instance or others’. Take it from me - it destroys you to focus on the negative so much that you start to miss the positive.

    I know you put so much effort into taking care of others, particularly transfolk (who don’t get themselves kicked out, like I did 😉) on blåhaj.zone. Remember to care for yourself also!

    Edited the ° 😅

  • I usually detest exclusive releases, as it feels anticonsumer to make people use a console/UI that they don’t like in order to have a chance of buying/playing a game they might like, but I’ve recently thought about a good copiumcoded excuse for it: Exclusives incentivise me to not keep all my games with one supplier, so when one corporation inevitably crosses a moral line that I cannot accept, I don’t have to sacrifice all my purchased games licences.

    That and I honestly believe that owning games developed initially for x platform, on that platform, usually results in the best experience. Usually.

  • Welcome to the club! It looks like the other recommended solutions have a UI for browsing as well, which is cool. As it is my ytdl-sub feeds into a library for Emby so I personally don’t need another UI, but it is tempting. Only issue I could see is the same one I had to fix: Some videos only had AV1 available, and support for AV1 encoding only begins at the very recent Intel Core Ultra and AMD 7040 CPUs. Without those even 720p playback is laggy af… I have an RTX 3060 at my disposal for HW transcoding but who knows if those YouTube archiver/players support it

    Edit: Just did some research, it seems that the other services don’t have support for HW transcoding or multiple users. And they are much more resource-intensive than ytdl-sub + Emby

  • Last year I generated 8 images during a day of experimenting with Google’s Gemini Image model. Running this same test on my own images:

    • 5/8 were verified using Google’s own embedded SynthID;
    • After running the failures through once again, one verified, making the successful total 6/8. Two remained ambiguous according to the AI.

    Of these images:

    • 5 were generated with just a prompt (4*/5), including the image that was not recognised at first
    • 2 were generated using personal images alongside a prompt (1/2), the recognised one of a human, the other of a rabbit
    • 1 was generated using sourced imagery alongside a prompt (0/1)

    Conclusion: Hilariously, it seems the in-house watermark method is absolutely not accurate.
