The irony is that the US actually does spend more per capita on education than pretty much any other nation, but only because we’ve gutted public funding in favor of private providers and schools.
Same for our healthcare.
Our basic services are insanely expensive because we refuse to socialize them like a normal fucking country.
The result is hypocritical conservative headlines like the above that amount to a “NO SERVICES FUNDING, ONLY EDUCATED WORKFORCE” version of the frisbee dog meme.

Nah I’m good, that dude was already rough enough on the eyes when he was alive.
Downvoters don’t understand. I have friends like you, the struggle is real.
LineageOS will not be enforcing Google’s new developer verification. Sideloading (Which really just means not using the Play store) will still be possible on such ROMs. Even for unverified APKs.
I don’t know what features you want, but GrapheneOS only runs on Pixels due to that team’s specific concerns over hardware-based security, and LineageOS officially supports hundreds of phones.

Sorry guys, I do think this is a case of “The most terrible person you know just made a great point”, re: NYTimes timing of oppo research releases. Having serious accusations of rape in his past isn’t just an ethical black mark among a whole closet of other black marks we’ve already decided to look past, it could also mean he gets charged with rape while in office. And if it’s actually credible, you know for sure that they’ll indict him. Even ignoring the simple fact that we shouldn’t have rapists in government, Platner’s goose is completely cooked at this point in terms of the large pile of personal issues. Who knows, maybe he doesn’t drop out and Maine votes him in anyway and he ends up being a fantastic rep while in office. But he also still has time to swap with another equally-progressive candidate. A true leftist coalition has all types of people in it, but a true leftist coalition also needs to be honest with itself about sexual violence. We’ve racked up so many Ws this summer, I think we can bare one L if it means keeping a hard stance against sexual violence. This is for better or worse the exact sort of thing a democratic process is meant to filter for.

No, stop using vanilla corpo software. They will fuck you again. Just put an aftermarket ROM on your android phone. I run LineageOS on an old OnePlus model. You can build it yourself if you’re techy and paranoid, otherwise the tutorials to flash an official prebuilt image are not that hard for a tech-literate person, almost every supported device has a guide page on their wiki.

Of course. Re: My thoughts on the rhetorical questions… This is what hierarchy does. It makes those it forces and coerces abandon their ethics. That is at it’s core what it is designed to do. People with no ethics do as they’re told. So long as there is a power hierarchy there will be unacceptably prevalent abuse and assault. The only reason I don’t propose overthrowing the government and enacting town-to-town horizontal communes as a solution is because I’m looking for something ‘realistic’ to propose in reply since the larger conceptual issue is far outside the realm of partisan politics. /anarchist

Yeah I get you then. It’s maddening.
I think most realistically, the path to evicting sexual assault from government is to get the parties themselves to enact background checks on their anointed candidates, and no-excuses dismissals of those credibly accused. That includes not looking back at Al Franken with regret.
Ironically they won’t do that because of the nature of power, so you have to replace them from the outside.
Which is a rocky road because as we’re seeing, outsiders certainly are not and will never be held to such standards either.

So what are you advocating for then? Voters abstain? Voters pick Collins?
Sorry I understand the outrage but is it just too much for someone to admit they’d make a weighed choice between two bad options? What’s missing?

This was a cynical reference to Biden 2020, I don’t think it’s a stretch to assume that the money behind Planter oppo research that lands in the NYTimes is the same money that was behind Biden. Not that I don’t find the SA allegations against both men credible, I certainly do.
It’s just that only one of the Maine candidates has a long and well-documented track record of voting for fascist policies that have negatively affected millions of women. They’re a known quantity, verifiably and provably awful.
Side eyes from anyone wouldn’t stop me from making what I felt was the less harmful choice, but I’m not a Maine resident.

The last time I had to vote in a federal election between a Republican and a Democrat man with sexual assault allegations, I was getting scolded and yelled at by Democrats on the internet for considering abstaining. So just in case those scolds are still around, I recommend still voting Platner.

It would probably split the centrist dem vote too, fml

DNC leadership is pathetic. They have the most popular political leader in the country standing right alongside them and they can’t even support the guy, all because they lack the spine to tell their Israeli paylords to suck nut. Fucking corpo leech cowards.
