Yup, although I haven’t purchased a Sony product in over a decade because they started charging a monthly fee for online services I got free on PC. Funny because I was a fanboy like no other during the console wars.

I sunk 3 years and over 1000 hours into Warframe, then I took a vacation to Africa where I couldn’t play for two weeks. When I got back I was like “why am I even playing this game? Wonder if anybody wants to play something else” then proceeded to have a few years of great multiplayer games with my dudes.

That it is. I’ve never actually had much traction getting them to listen, it’s usually just them going silent after providing data/info to back my stance.

I was raised on Fox as well, was even a founding member of my schools young conservative club. Global warming was actually one of the topics that broke me free of that bullshit mindset. I told a few friends global warming was bullshit and they were like “bro you’re dumb, here’s how we know it’s real.” I understood enough science to get it was happening as well as the implications. That got me questioning everything the news said, which had me coming to those same realizations you did.

I spent three hours convincing a couple MAGAs on nextdoor that global warming is real and we’ve known for nearly 100 years. Had to go into remedial science mode and explain why greenhouse gasses trap heat in, complete with videos showing CO2 experiments like they do in high school. One guy begrudgingly agreed but the second guy was shook. I think he started coming to terms with the fact he’s blindly believed lies and started questioning other “truths”.
There may be hope, but he might’ve just turned Fox on after and stuck his head back into the sand.

Exactly what I was trying to say.

I’m pretty wealthy and I want the USA to be way more socialist. I want medical for all, free daycare, food security for everyone, and a huge expansion of public education. Unfortunately about 50% of the population equates any socialism with Marxism and refuses to even hear how bad they’re getting screwed by their Corp sponsored overlords.
I’m literally explaining social democracies vs Marxism to grown adults on nextdoor constantly. These knuckle draggers have the strongest political opinions and the weakest base of knowledge, it’s infuriating. The 24 hour news cycle has turned our dumb neighbors into hateful mean little people.

The modern consumer has a spine made from jello. They’ve had company after company fuck them over but rather than slightly inconvenience themselves to find an alternative or do without, they’ll just bend over and get fucked.
People have forgotten that they’re the power and companies can be told to go eat shit.

I am on nextdoor and at least once a week there’s a post about Seattle’s mayor turning off the flock cameras and it’s inevitably flooded by Republicans screaming and shouting that she wants there to be more murder. These people have no critical thinking skills and just parrot anything whatever media station they chose says.
They always disappear when I point out the cameras have been hacked, Leo’s nationwide can access, they’ve been caught stalking with the cameras, they can listen in on conversations through a cracked window, and we have no guarantees the data won’t be fed to AI. Guess I can add precise location tracking through phones to the list too.
That’s what kills me the most. It’s completely shaken my belief that people are anything more than stupid scared animals in a herd.
