I mean… They’re not. And that’s the problem.
I remember the AIG debacle and how Obama went ape shit to get the money back even though the payouts were contractual obligations to AIGs employees.
Why would Donnie ever intervene in trying to get the people their money back… He’s been screwing us over for over a year now. Ain’t going to stop now.
Honestly this seems an easy win for them in court, even if it’s a PR nightmare.
Consoles are not essential goods, so if you were willing to pay the inflated price, it doesn’t matter if it was inflated because the manufacturer wanted a bigger margin or because your president is an idiot.
Companies set the prices to maximize profit, so it’s not like the previous price was lower because they love us, it was the price where they thought sales×margins were bigger given the circumstances.
Did anyone actually expect them to?
Funny how customers are not obligated to purchase further products.
Then I’m obligated to keep pirating.
And i’m not obligated to buy anything from them in the future!
Yaaaaaaarrrrrr
I don’t blame companies for this at all. The republicans did this.
You can blame companies for propping up all the republican candidates.
That’s kind of understandable as they were also the ones who paid the taxes directly while importing the products.
If they kept prices low and ate the tariffs, I agree with you.
If they raised prices to include the tariffs, screw them.
lol They paid it directly, then raised the prices of every good effected by the tariffs. So then they got paid back directly by customers. Now they get the tariff refund, and the extra profits from raising their prices in the first place. But sure- it’s understandable that they wouldn’t do the moral thing. They gotta make sure their bottom line go up, regardless of it being the obviously wrong decision for their customers.
Well not to disagree with you, but this is how tariffs are supposed to work. They make foreign products more expensive so consumers pick a US product instead.
The price is the price and everyone is free not to buy a luxury product like a PlayStation. If you did buy it after all, that means you agreed to the price.
So close! Tariffs SHOULD be used to create incentive to buy local and invest in your local economy. However Microsoft is a US company- so that kinda negates your entire point. Since they are included in the group of corps not paying forward the refunds to the ones that actually deserve the money back. Why are you simping for multi-billion dollar corps?
Microsoft is a US company but Xbox is an imported product, being manufactured in China. Therefore it was subject to the tariffs.
Let me ask you a question.
Say you export bananas to the European Union. Then the people in the EU vote to prioritize Europe above every other country (MEGA) and thanks to them you suddenly have to pay import tariffs on every banana. You are forced to raise sales prices to compensate which reduces the number of sales and lowers your turnover. Now it turns out the tariffs were unlawful and you get money back from the EU. Would you feel that that money belongs to the people in the EU?Yes, because I’m not an amoral psycho that runs a multi-billion dollar corp, or one of their brainless sycophants that goes through social media simping for them to make more money.
Well, at least we agree there. I too have no idea why people like to suck corporate d.
If you hate a company, don’t buy stuff from them. Don’t go whining that they owe you money after you voluntarily spent hundreds of dollars on them, that’s a weak move.
Also if you don’t want tariffs, talk to the brain dead people around you that vote for people like Trump instead of blaming companies that aren’t even from the US for having to deal with tariffs.
Legal tariffs work this way.
