I wanted to buy a GPU in 2020 and was advised to wait. I regretted it. Got nothing.
Two years ago I decided it was time. I was told I should wait again for the new models.
This time I went my own way. Bought a RX6750 XT for 300 euros. Good call…

Honestly, I’m not willing to credit anyone involved with that level of coordination and foresight. Especially not when short term profit and raw greed are more than enough to explain current actions.
Yep, the market is chocking full of old games and indie devs make new games that run on potatoes, games that are really fun to play. I don’t care about the latest hardware anymore. This kind of “strategy” assumes everyone wants the latest tech and only AAA games.

I’d sooner abandon gaming completely and switch to card games.

I’d finally start on my backlog of PS2 games.
I’d be done with new games. Time to bust out the N64 and SNES, fire up some rom hacks on my everdrive.
There are a lot of decomps being developed from the N64 and PS1 era. Meaning you can play (or replay) them natively on PC with quality life improvements such as 4K, 60fps, widescreen FOV hacks, texture enhancements etc.
It’s really a great time to rediscover some PC games (or decomps and ports of console games) from 15-25 years ago that you might have missed when they were new.
I would love to play my SNES and Genesis. However I cannot find an affordable crt to save my life. Wish I’d never gotten rid of them.
Retrotink makes boxes that scale them for modern tv’s. Check em out, highly recommend
I have a fairly new AMD 9070XT in my rig… I should get at least 5 more years out of that…at which point I’ll make the decision…
Man I felt stupid buying a 5090 at $2700. Little did I know how bad it was going to get.
I still feel dumb buying my rtx 6900 or whatever it is for however stupid it expensive it was during the pandemic. I think it was between 1500 and 2500. And it’s so big I can’t use one of my PCI ports.

I never said it was msrp. I even said I felt kind of stupid paying the mark up. It was shortly after they came out and microcenter had one over clocked Zotac card. So I said fuck. I’ve wanted a 90 series card since they came out just didn’t realize that when I’d be able to afford it it would be the worst price / performance ever offered from Nvidia lol

Capitalism will never allow itself to be regulated, this outcome is inevitable. If you don’t like this, you’re recognizing the glaringly obvious problem with capitalism as a whole, it all goes to the top and only gets smaller.
Because communism worked out so well in the 80-90’s for computers that they had to smuggle capitalistic tech.
