They really treat Canada like a wayward US state. Good on the Canadian government to tell the US to fuck off.

“You Albertans” is a very broad brush.

At the 2024 Federal election, which was 100% about Canadian sovereignty, You Albertans voted 92% of your ridings to PC. Here’s the electoral map of your progressive views:

Even after the PC leader lost his own seat, and after the PC party had to resort to a US citizen as leader, You Albertans welcomed Pierre Poilievre back to Parliament.

With one exception, Alberta has voted provincial PC since 1971. JFC…you have an Separation referendumb just weeks away.

There are almost as many people in those little orange dots as there are in all of that empty blue space. Land doesn’t vote, people do. The polls are still are showing less than 25% support for separation and they are pulling every dirty trick in the book to get it that high. In the 2023 provincial election it was 928,900 UCP to 777,404 NDP. I’m not saying there isn’t a problem, or that we’re not outnumbered, but it’s not by a big margin. The waves of attempted recall elections in the first half of 2026 should tell you that people are not happy, and the fact the province keeps moving the goal posts and deciding to void its own rules just to hang on to power should tell you that it’s not a small group of dissidents. We’d have an NDP Premier in this province if 4 ridings shifted and 100k people in the urban metros changed their minds. (or, like half a Toronto suburb moved to Calgary for a year).
