The problem is that even if it’s only 1 in 10 that are hostile ballbags, that’s a level of hostility we do not need or have any desire to engage with. And they are not going to change. Once the idea is planted in their heads, it’s never going away. Trump going away isn’t going to undo that.
As a Canadian, I know the vast majority of Americans are not represented by the dredges of humanity involved in this administration.
However, I don’t believe we will ever be going “back”. We can repair the relationship but it will never be the same. An abuser will always say they are changed, but the abused have their full right to question that claim, and will always remember the past.
It can be repaired, we might have to make a few people a head shorter down here, but I think it still can be repaired
