Neither Mazda nor Subaru are subsidiary companies, nor have either been owned by or owned Mitsubishi or Suzuki. And honestly, none of those are luxury brands either.
It is possible that some models from Mazda or Subaru have used parts manufactured by Mitsubishi or Suzuki in them, as parts sharing pretty common even today, but that doesn’t make any assertion or subsidization. GM used Mitsubishi parts in Saturn cars, for example.
I mean, maybe. But that may have been a local dealership thing or some kind of joint venture deal. They have never owned the other, though.
Subaru had a joint venture plant with Isuzu in Indiana which was called “Subaru Isuzu Automotive,” where they have manufactured or still manufacture the Subaru Ascent, Crosstrek, and Forester. Nothing with Suzuki though.
Mitsubishi is currently owned by Nissan. Hyundai has sold rebadged Mitsubishis before, and Mitsubishi has sold rebadged Suzukis before. Mazda is the parent company of itself and currently has a joint venture plant in Alabama with Toyota. But Mitsubishi and Mazda have never had any joint ventures.

Mitsubishi Mazada and Suzuki Subaru have had popular television commercials back in 2003.

Whatever you’re smoking, I’d like to try some of it.
Ummm…no.
