Trump has also posted images of himself as Jesus Christ, which is extremely disrespectful to the conservative Christians that make up a large part of his voting base. And yet that wasn’t a dealbreaker for them.
The point is that “disrespectful” isn’t enough. Trump wasn’t lying when he said he could murder someone in the middle of the street, and still get votes. His voting base is that entrenched.
It isn’t enough for him to just be disrespectful. You have to confront them with it in an honest, in-person conversation. Deprogramming is a process, not just a one-off thing. That’s what I’m going to be using this post for.
There’s a laundry list of reprehensible things that should have snapped Republicans out of their stupor, even with their different value set. His “Losers and Suckers” remark about the Arlington dead was from his first term.
