It’s baked into us through millions of years of evolution and sexual selection. You could even call it one of the fundamental forces of life. A social forces that shaped every part of our culture, stories, politics.
I’m all for decriminalizing sex work and respecting people, but most sex workers would prefer to work in other fields if it wasn’t so profitable or they weren’t so desperate. Money is power and if you pay someone to do something it can be a form of coercion.
Personally I see being able to generate pornography and eventually replace sex work through artificial means as a fundamental advance in humanity’s ethical evolution. Similar to artificial meat and an end to slaughtering animals to eat them. A base desire that we can replace through technological means.
