I’ve just been running it for a couple of days on my gaming setup and it’s so good.

It’s rolling release with a role back function to a previous state that is 100x snappier, more organic and less awkward then all the immutable distros and atomic desktops I tried !?

It seems totally independent and made by a small team.

Why is nobody talking about it?!!

I am still genuinly looking for whats the catch?! Please someone tell me!

It’s only rank 30 on distrowatch, I hadn’t even heard of it until recently.

Is it just because the branding isn’t the best?

Granted it was kind of awkward to install especially with encryption but arch was also awkward to install for a while and people still talked about it.

I just wanna make sure that everyone isn’t sleeping on this because I am genuinely confused.

I feel like I am living the distro hoppers dream where you stumble over a random distro and it’s actually better then everything you tried before xD.

I’m glad you’re having a positive experience on aerynOS!

We are cracking on but yeah, we are staying cautious and not moving away from the alpha label until we are ready. The beta label will come when we are “feature complete” and are only testing for bugs and regressions before going to “general release”.

As not to have an influx of users who aren’t self reliant, we have intentionally left roadblocks like a more difficult installer as we don’t want people to get the impression that this is user focused “yet”.

We are however starting to change that position. We released a blog post yesterday (https://aerynos.com/blog/2026/08/31/a-community-that-works-together-builds-together/) where we talk about an upcoming major installer update, though it wasn’t quite ready in time for this monthly progress post.
