So I got to playing UO again on this new thinkpad. I tried giving UOAlive another whirl but I remembered my house got deleted due to inactivity and I was getting bored of that server around the time I quit, anyway.

So I did some snooping around online and find a new server. UO: 1998 https://www.uo1998.com/

So far the server is deader than a doornail but it’s okay! It’s a pre the second age server which means it’s just the og vanilla base game. I guess the client was reverse engineered from the offline demo of the game, which is neat!

Anywho I rolled 3 chars to try out, first a bard that went nowhere, then a thief stealing from npcs but I kept getting killed by the guards, then a warrior which is too weak to fight anything. So today I set out with a new character with the mindset of raising strength (is it’s number is your hp and your melee damage). One of the way to raise it is by practicing camping:

After a tedious half an hour, success! I can start wearing bone armor one of my other pcs found:
