This is a narrow demographic but I’ll probably make two people smile and that’s enough

I’m always interested in joining new niche demographics and I already use KDE (recognized this part instantly proud). Does anyone want to explain to me who Uma is, so I can get in on this demographic?

Uma Musume (馬娘, literally “Horse Girls”) is a gacha style game by CYGAMES that has several anime. The idea is to take actual race horses, regardless of gender, and make them moe anime waifus that run huma-style footraces. One very popular one that I know, is Golshi, or the horse Gold Ship. From what I can gather, though, the mascot is supposed to be Special Week. (I only tangentially interact with pure gacha games because of my crippling fear of being addicted)

Anyway, plenty of good memes from the fans, and decent artwork in the usual places for manga-adjacent things, whatever that means for you.

Thank you very much for this thorough explanation. Though I do like anime, I wouldn’t consider myself otaku and am generally not that much into the idea of waifus. So I guess, Uma Musume might not be for me in the end 😅

Cygames made Dragalia Lost with Nintendo, and it was very good. I’ve been tempted to try the horse game just for that.
          On the other hand…

“Musume” is closer in usage to “Maiden”, and is often used in the same way words like “woman” and “girl” are used in titles, like Wonder Woman or Batgirl.

It doesn’t have a connotation of family by itself.
