Organizers billed the fair as “a modern-day World’s Fair celebrating the people, traditions, innovations, and spirit that make America the greatest nation on Earth.”
The World Expo is meant to celebrate international cultures and diversity; turning it into a U.S.-only event reeks of unhealthy nationalism and propaganda.
It does reek in multiple ways but I’d give them this one. I read it as hyperbole over the scope as beyond the “county fair” were all used to.
Only one sponsor had the balls to withdraw over it, everyone go get a jar of Mt Olive Pickles.
