The Dutch government wants to ban smartphones from schools, both during lessons and during break times, as part of an approach to protect children better online. This measure should protect them against distractions in environments where they need to concentrate, State Secretary Willemijn Aerdts of Education and Emancipation announced on Monday.
i agree about phones being a terrible idea to allow in schools in (current year).
But also you know teachers are just going to say “no” to a student asking for a permissions slip. Some of my teachers were not lax about phone usage, and those tended to be the classes where I consistently forgot what homework was due.
Partial exceptions are only partially useful.
you don’t request the permission from the teacher though. It’s a school policy and a teacher likely cannot overrule it anyway. you request the permission from the principal or the school psychologist, or whoever deals with kids special needs.
