I finally gave it another go. I tried it years ago for about twenty minutes and promptly uninstalled it when all the microtransactions got up in my face. Refreshing to see a company do the right thing, but I’m sad to say that I uninstalled it again. This isn’t really Quake to me. Outlines showing where your opponents are, announcer notifying the quad has spawned, the shotgun being reduced from a death stick to a pea shooter, what’s up with that? The movement feels less like you’re running at breakneck speed and more like you’re hovering around like a friendly little ghost. Everything just felt off.
