I love this game and since its not updating very offten i decided to learn programming and start making things that i want myself.

So i made some first mods. One is lode stone, i changed recepy to use metal ingot instead of netherite ingot. Small change but wery important one, because player can use it much earlier in the game, and can make as much of them as it needs. Its wery usefull item in the game and it never should have been expencive.

Second mode is furnice, blast furnice should simply be better version of regular furnice. And thats exactly what i made. It can smelt all the items same as regular one but it smelts items twice as fast.

I want to learn everything, so if you have some place where i can find all informacions about how game works and how to make mods, please share it with me.

Luanti is actualy a game engine and Voxe Libre is the game that runs on it, and that i made mods for.

But the best thing is its all open source, both the engine and the game. As i understand it, thats the point, to have “open source Minecraft”.

I’ve been trolling my kids for some months now where every time they mention Minecraft, I yell or insert into the conversation, “Luanti!”. It’s taken a bit but my propaganda is finally starting to work 😅

Yea i did read first chapters but i feel like there are not all informacion in it, more leke some basic things. Meaby am wrong.

Also the problem is this book is for mods in minetest game, and since i want to make mods for Voxe Libre this book doesnt realy teach me that. Althou it helps understending how things related to engine works.

Hmm, yeah, never tried to write mods for VoxeLibre, but I would be surprised, if there’s a guide for it in particular.

That modding book is still applicable. The Luanti modding API is still applicable. I believe, you just need to know the technical names for the VoxeLibre blocks and items, so you can reference them in the code.

In the F5 menu, you can see the technical names for blocks you point at.
Not sure, if there’s a way to see that for items in-game. There might be a mod that displays them. Otherwise, you can look in your Luanti directory. For me on Linux, that’s under ~/.minetest/games/mineclone2/.
