I don’t have a problem with AI. I have a problem with vibe-coded apps released as a one-shot and then never maintained or supported. That’s slop.

I also have a problem with the trace apps (lifttrace, nutritrace, etc.) because while they’re entirely vibe-coded, they are actively developed, but they’re posted here by a brand promotion account that doesn’t otherwise contribute to the community. If there’s any “x% self-ptomotion” threshold, they fail it, because it’s 100% self-promotion.

A large number of games on Steam don’t have always-online DRM. And Steam has an offline mode too. And, of course, there’s GOG and other non-DRM platforms.

Is that still possible with modern games? The last time I bought a physical game it came with a Steam key that locked it to my account. And that was 15 years ago. (Granted, it was Portal 2, so obviously it was on Steam. But I still couldn’t give the disc to someone to let them play it.)

Actors already get residuals from reruns. Even if they use AI, I don’t see why they can’t just keep paying them for new and recurring use.

Edit: actually the answer is “Amazon consultant” based on the experience I had observing one of them “working”. He just repeatedly prompted their LLM and went around in circles instead of actually doing anything useful.
